About $75,000 worth of damage was done to a single-story house at 349 Timothy St. over the weekend, Columbia firefighters said.

"The whole inside was gutted," said Deputy Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins.

One firefighter was burned by the flames and was treated on the scene, said Jenkins.

The fire was called in to the fire department about 10 p.m. Saturday. The couple who live at the house were out of town.

"We don't know how the fire started," said Jenkins. "The cause is under investigation."
