CHARLESTON - George W. Hynd, senior vice provost for education and innovation at Arizona State University, has been named provost at the College of Charleston.
He will start work on Jan. 11.
"With the board of trustees' recent approval of our new strategic plan, we are about to begin the exciting and challenging work of executing the plan," College of Charleston President George Benson said. "I am confident that George Hynd is exactly the right individual to lead our academic programs toward the plan's envisioned future."
At Arizona State, Hynd also is dean and director of that university's Mary Lou Fulton Institute and Graduate School of Education.
At the College of Charleston, he will be responsible for faculty, academic programs and institutional assessment.
