GREENVILLE -- A daughter of Atlanta’s mayor was sentenced Monday to three years of probation for laundering money for her ex-husband’s drug operation.
The Greenville News reported that Kai Franklin also will have to serve three months of home confinement. The investigation started in Greenville in 2004 as a sting against a local dealer, authorities said.
Franklin pleaded guilty in December. Prosecutors said she bought $14,000 in money orders to pay the mortgage on an Atlanta home she owned with her then-husband, Tremayne Graham, structuring the transaction in an attempt to hide it from the IRS.
Graham is serving a life sentence on drug charges.
