Residents told to stay away from raccoons

After receiving several unconfirmed reports of sightings of a possible rabid raccoon in the West Lexington area, Lexington police are warning people to stay away from the animals.

Residents have reported an animal acting suspiciously in the 400 block of Hendrix Street, Black Avenue and Third Avenue.

Traps have been set in the area. If the raccoon is spotted, residents should call 911 and not to try to catch it.
