Security officer accused of punching patient

A security officer with the S.C. Department of Mental Health was arrested Wednesday and accused of assaulting a vulnerable adult.

Corey Darnell Scott, 32, of Lorick Circle, is charged with simple assault and battery, according to a warrant.

Warrants allege Scott punched an adult, who was in the care of the department, three times in the face last year at a Columbia psychiatric ward.

The case will be prosecuted in city magistrate court.
