Local salary database

HELPFUL HINTS

This database contain names, positions and salaries of local government employees making $50,000 or more a year, as furnished by the agencies in response to S.C. Freedom of Information Act requests.

Generally, salaries of employees earning less than $50,000 a year are available in $4,000 ranges directly from the agency of interest.

Why do we publish this data? Counties, municipalities and school districts pay employees through appropriations of tax money. These entities serve the public interest and their payrolls are part of the public record.

Search tips: To search by name, type in all or part of a name. (Example: "presley" or "pres" or "elvis".) You can also limit your search by agency using the dropdown menu. On the results page, you can sort the data how you wish by clicking on the blue column headings. Clicking the same heading again switches the sort between ascending and descending on that field.

Note that only the first 250 records matching a search will be returned. You will need to narrow your search parameters (for example, limit results to certain agencies or, for large agencies, to both agency and salary ranges) if you are hitting the 250-record limit. The number of records returned is displayed at the bottom of the results list. However, when changing the sort order of a field (see Search Tips, above), the re-ordered data draws from the entire data set, not just the data returned by your search.
