A stellar volleyball season for Midlands teams means plenty of Midlands players are receiving postseason honors.
Region 5-4A champion Lexington, the runner-up to Dorman in the Class 4A state tournament, landed two players on the Coaches Association of Women's Sports Class 4A all-state team.
Seniors Kellie Schmidt and Laura Grace Swindler represent the Wildcats on the team, which includes players from all classificiations. Schmidt and Swindler also were chosen for the North-South All-Star games, which will be played Saturday at Lander University in Greenwood. Only seniors are eligible for North-South selection.
Region 4-4A champion Blythewood has two all-state players: senior Caleen Hawkins and junior Courtney Williams. Hawkins is a North-South selection.
Dutch Fork senior Kindra Bailey will play alongside Schmidt and Swindler on the Class 4A/3A South team at the North-South games, as will White Knoll's Brittney Williamson.
In Class 3A, Region 6 champion Camden had two all-state players: seniors Anna Ford and Hannah Jackson, who both made the North-South rosters. Lugoff-Elgin senior Hannah Dederick was an all-state and North-South pick.
Sophomores Autumn McManus of Chapin and Dasha Bookman of Airport made the Class 3A all-state team, as did Lugoff-Elgin junior Claire Noel. Dreher's Tequila McNeal will play North-South.
In Class 2A, state runner-up Gilbert landed two players on the all-state and North-South teams: seniors Sarah Eargle and Courtney Frye. Keenan junior Rebekah Davis made the all-state team, and Janae' Stevenson of Eau Claire made North-South.
North Central, which won the Region 3-A championship, was honored with three all-state players: Elizabeth Harrison, Courtney Ham and junior April Barrett. Harrison will play in the North-South games.
