Player of the Year: Emani Harrison

Class: Senior

School: A.C. Flora

What she did: Won the long jump at the state meet with a leap of 17 feet, 4 inches. ... Won silver in the 400 meters (56.67 seconds) and bronze in the 200 (24.95). ... Placed fourth in the 100 (12.16).

The highlight of her year: “Going to state for four events and winning long jump. It was a twist because I didn’t do as well in the event that I had practiced, but then I won in the event that I didn’t really practice all season.”

What she does with her free time: “Watch Lifetime, talk on the phone and eat French fries.”

She’s usually on the phone with: “My boyfriend, Tywon Pelzer.”

Movie she saw recently: “‘Dance Flick.’ It was all right. It was kinda funny.”

Learning to dance: “I took ballet and stuff in elementary school, but that didn’t really work out. I was pretty much a tomboy. I thought the outfits were cool, but the classes were boring.”

Her best subject: “Science. Like biology and those kinds of things. I love dissecting things and studying the body.”

She’d like to major in: “Political science, pre-law.”

Her favorite cops on television: “Ice T’s character on ‘Law and Order SVU.’ I always liked him.”
