Two seats, elected at large. Incumbent Same Jackson did not respond.

Carlisle Rast

Age: 53

Education: Associate degree in civil engineering, Midlands Technical College

Occupation: Environmental engineering designer/land surveyor

Elected political experience: None

Current community organizations: Pelion Methodist Church, Carolina Good Neighbors

Family: Married, one daughter

Why I am running: I feel a need to get involved at the community level to help the wonderful people of Pelion weather the difficult times that may be ahead. My goal is to help promote Pelion as a sovereign community, thereby increasing the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness of the individual as was intended by the founders of this country. Less big government means more for Pelion.

Tom Siler

Age: 51

Education: Associate degree, Montreat Anderson College; bachelor's in elementary and early childhood education, Lander University; master's in education administration, USC; education specialist, USC; doctoral candidate at USC

Occupation: Director of employee quality and leadership development for Lexington 1 schools

Elected political experience: Town councilman since 2000

Current community organizations: Ruritan Club

Family: Married, two children

Why I am running: I ran for Town Council to be an active policy-maker in my community. I believe in being proactive and progressive so the future of our community can thrive and be prosperous for the young people who will follow.
