Do you know who Neil Gaiman is?
He has 1.7 million Twitter followers. He has written episodes for the seminal BBC series “Doctor Who.” He has dozens of best-selling books to his credit, including the children’s story, “Coraline,” which was made into an animated movie produced by Tim Burton.
Neil Gaiman is coming to Columbia next month.
Gaiman is one of three literary superstars stopping at the Columbia Museum of Art Sept. 14 in “The Unchained Tour.” You’ll hear stories from Gaiman, playwright Edgar Oliver and multi-talented artist Peter Aguero. The appearance is based on Aguero’s “Moth on the Radio” program broadcast, which won a 2010 Peabody award.
The tour is promoting independent bookstores, which is why Ed’s Editions, a bookstore in West Columbia, is involved.
Gaiman recently toured with comedian John Hodgeman in the United Kingdom, doing a live performance of “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.”
Tickets are $17; $15 for musuem members. Get them at Ed’s Editions bookstores at 406 Meeting St. in West Columbia or go online at www.showclix.com; search for UnchainedColumbiaSC
