Recycling fibers company plans new plant, will hire 300
RICHBURG A Chinese company that recycles plastic soda and water bottles into fibers for furniture and upholstery plans to open a new plant in Chester County. JN Fibers Inc. announced Wednesday it will hire more than 300 workers for its new $45 million plant in Richburg, beginning next summer with the plant opening next fall.
Regulators to decide if Duke has good plan to protect Oconee Nuclear from flooding if Jocassee Dam fails
ROCKVILLE, Md. Federal regulators will decide next year if Duke Energy has put together an adequate plan to protect Oconee Nuclear Station from flooding if the 385-foot Jocassee Dam upstream failed. Regulators are still reviewing Duke Energy’s engineering analysis of risks linked to overtopping or even a possible earthquake. .

Georgia expected to get OK to deepen Savannah harbor
SAVANNAH Rep. Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania, chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee said Wednesday he expects Congress by the end of this year will likely pass a bill that clears a final obstacle to deepening the Savannah harbor by updating a spending cap. Georgia port officials and the Army Corps of Engineers are close to starting a $652 million project to deepen more than 30 miles of the Savannah River used by cargo ships.
