Sharon Ray has joined Scott and Company in Columbia as a senior accountant on the assurance and advisory services team.

Bobbitt Design Build in Columbia has begun construction on an addition to Blanchard Machinery Track Press and Undercarriage Shop in West Columbia.


Bluestein, Nichols, Thompson & Delgado attorney and partner Allison Sullivan has received a 2014 Leadership in Law Award from South Carolina Lawyers Weekly.

M. Malissa Burnette, a member of Callison Tighe Robinson in Columbia, has received the Barbara W. Moxon Advocacy Award from Planned Parenthood Health Systems.

John D. Clark, an attorney with Clark Law Firm in Sumter, has been inducted as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Bell Carrington & Price has been awarded a contract to assist Shaw Air Force Base in the acquisition of easements to surrounding properties. Tyler Gregg, managing attorney of the Columbia office, will be lead point of contact for the law firm.


The South Carolina Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators was given an Award of Merit for Professional Development during the Chapter Management Awards.

Midlands Technical College has named Joe Johnson, class of 1983, as the 2014 Distinguished Graduate. Johnson is president and chief operating officer of Palmetto GBA. Jim Reynolds, chief executive officer of Total Comfort Solutions, has been named the 2014 Distinguished Volunteer.

The South Carolina Trucking Association has recognized Ralph Offhaus with Shealy’s Truck Center in Columbia as S.C. Technician of the Year. Other Midlands area award winners are N.W. White & Co. in Columbia, Southeastern Freight Lines in West Columbia and Sumter Transport in Sumter (S.C. Industrial Safety Award); AAA Cooper Transportation in West Columbia, Consolidated Cargo Carriers in Columbia, G&P Trucking Company in Gaston, N.W. White & Co. in Columbia, Southeastern Freight Lines in West Columbia, Sumter Transport in Sumter, The SEFA Group in Lexington and Walter P. Rawl & Sons in Lexington (S.C. First Place Truck Safety Award). Atlantic Bulk Carriers in Columbia received a safety award as the most improved fleet.
