Work is starting on a new 299-unit apartment complex located on a developing commercial corridor in Cayce.
Plans call for the Otarre Pointe complex to be ready for its first tenants in January.
It’s the first of two complexes slated to open in the Lexington County community of 13,000 residents in coming months.
Otarre Pointe – named after a Native American tribe – is rising on a 19-acre site near I-77 and 12th Street.
Never miss a local story.
It’s close to SCANA headquarters, online retailer Amazon’s distribution center, Nephron Pharmaceuticals, a Lexington Medical Center clinic, a tennis complex and a proposed history park.
The complex will provide those who work in the area “Class A rental housing,” said Marc Weil of the Rohdie Group, developer of the project.
Rents will range from $700 to $1,275 monthly, he said.
It will be marketed to young professionals and local employees, Weil said.
The New-York based company has developed and manages approximately 80 complexes nationwide, with a focus on the Southeast.
Its decision to come to Cayce underscores the commercial development boom along the southern edge of the city, Mayor Elise Partin said.
Another apartment complex of about the same size is planned on Knox Abbott Boulevard near the Blossom Street bridge.
