Congaree Land Trust land protection director Mary Crockett has been named 2014 River Manager of the Year by the River Management Society. Crockett has been a member of the River Management Society for 14 years and is president of the organization’s Southeast Chapter. A nationally certified public manager, her accomplishments include obtaining grants to protect 25,000 acres of land, training land monitors for conservation easements and securing protection for property along the Wateree River that allows public access to a dozen boat-in campsites.
