The University of South Carolina had a topping off ceremony Thursday morning to celebrate the completion of the structural phase of its new Alumni Center at Senate and Lincoln streets in The Vista. Crews raised an 18-foot, 500-pound beam signed by hundreds of alumni and placed it at the peak of the new center. Work will now begin to complete the center, which USC President Harris Pastides said, “will be a glorious bridge between the Vista and campus, and provide a connecting point for alumni and USC students worldwide.” The 60,000-square-foot, $26 million center will open next summer.
