Phil Bartlett has been elected as the chairman of the Riverbanks Park Commission, the governing authority of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. He has been a member of the commission since 2009 and served as vice chairman for the 2012-2014 term. Bartlett, whose background includes business, law enforcement and the military, will be responsible for guiding commissioners in business decisions related to the zoo and garden, such as park improvements, maintenance, staffing and operations. Bartlett is a professor at the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business and also works as a student mentor at USC’s Center for Entrepreneurial and Technological Innovation. Other commission members taking office this year include Mary Howard, vice chairman; Bud Tibshrany, treasurer; and Lloyd Liles, secretary.
