Bank of America customers were not able to use online banking Monday, according to a notice on the Charlotte bank’s website.
“Online banking is temporarily unavailable. Thank you for your patience,” said the notice, which was on the bank’s website early Monday afternoon.
The bank did not disclose the cause of the problem or when online banking would be available again. The site appeared to be working again at about 2 p.m.
“Some customers may be experiencing issues accessing online and mobile banking,” bank spokesman Mark Pipitone said in an email to the Observer. “We are aware of the issue and working quickly to resolve.”
Some customers took to social media to vent their frustrations.
“Bank of America nationwide online banking unavailable. Unacceptable,” tweeted someone with the Twitter handle @yopablo.
