Internet-marketing company Red Ventures is moving to northern Lancaster County, where it plans to add 1,000 jobs over the next five to seven years, company officials say.
The Charlotte company, which steadily has added employees even during the recession, is leaving its Ballantyne-area headquarters in mid-November for a 57,000-square-foot building in the 521 Corporate Center, off U.S. 521 just south of the N.C. line.
Red Ventures will buy seven adjacent acres, hoping one day to build a campus with multiple buildings, a cafeteria and a fitness center, company spokeswoman Marshall Reiffsteck said.
The company expects to add 100 new positions at the new location by the end of the year and up to 1,000 workers in the next five to seven years. Red Ventures has about 250 employees in Charlotte and 400 in its other locations in the United States, Puerto Rico and Guatemala.
Never miss a local story.
Founded in 2000, Red Ventures generates customers for well-known brands in satellite television, Internet services and home security. It was ranked 17th on last year's Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing private companies.
Overall, the company expects to invest more than $20 million in its new facility, according to a news release from the state Department of Commerce and the Lancaster County Economic Development Corp.
The company will be granted incentives in return, including job-development credits, which Red Ventures is able to collect once it creates new jobs.
The Commerce Department is giving Lancaster County a $250,000 grant for related infrastructure upgrades, and Red Ventures will get 18 years of property taxes discounted by 50 percent.
The company inherited a 20-year tax incentive originally granted to a mortgage firm that built the facility two years ago, Reiffsteck said.
"Red Ventures' investment is a strong example of our state's ability to attract and grow knowledge-based jobs," Commerce secretary Joe Taylor said in the news release.
"The company's decision ... is also an indication that our business-friendly climate and pool of talented labor ... is working to attract high-tech, high-growth companies offering exceptional job opportunities."
Red Ventures is holding a job fair next week to fill 100 sales positions. It will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at Red Ventures' current headquarters, 15009 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte. For more information or to register, go to redventures.com.
