Jeffrey C. Patterson Sr. , coordinator of purchasing for Richland-Lexington School District 5, was named the James H. Barnes Award Winner for 2009 by the S.C. Association of Governmental Purchasing Officials. The Barnes award is the highest bestowed award for government purchasing in the state.
Providence Hospitals has been recognized with two Distinction Awards by the 2009 eHealthcare Leadership Awards from eHealthcare Strategy & Trends. Providence won best overall Web site and best site design.
U.S. News and the National Committee for Quality Assurance ranked BlueChoice HealthPlan of South Carolina the best in South Carolina in their report, "America's Best Health Insurance Plans." The report ranks health plans based on clinical quality, member satisfaction and accreditation scores.

Lee Morriss has been named Midlands region director of Girl Scouts of South Carolina-Mountains to Midlands. Morriss will continue working as chief operating officer for the council's Greenville Service Center and corporate headquarters. She also now will oversee a region that serves 10 counties, including the Columbia Service Center.
David R. Wood has joined Southern Atlantic Mechanical Co. to manage its HVAC Department. His responsibilities will include sales, installations and marketing. He is a former operations manager for a mechanical contractor in Florida.
