Sidney J. Evering II, special counsel and Parker Poe’s director of diversity, has received the Jonathan Jasper Wright Award. The award is given to an outstanding member of the legal community by the Black Law Students Association at the University of South Carolina School of Law. Evering has been a volunteer mentor for association members and other law students at USC for more than six years. In 2012, he was recruited by the Riley Institute at Furman University as a participant in the Diversity Leaders Initiative, Midlands Class V. Through this involvement, Evering was selected to join the inaugural membership and steering committee of the Diversity Recruitment Consortium, where he developed innovative programs, practices and processes to increase diversity of professional and executive talent throughout South Carolina.
