DLS Retreading, a provider of truck tire retreading services, has invested $2.5 million in a northern Lancaster County facility that is expected to generate 53 new jobs over the next four years.
“We are excited about bringing our new operations in Lancaster County online,” said Steve Snyder, president and CEO of DLS Retreading. “Our management team has many years of experience in the tire industry under its belt, and we look forward to serving our customers here.
“We appreciate the support we’ve received from state and local officials as we’ve moved this project forward.”
The DLS Retreading manufacturing, warehousing, sales and service facility was formerly used by Guardian Building Supplies.
The company is licensed to sell Continental Tire’s the Americas LLC’s ContiTread retreads for truck tires, as well as new Continental and General brand truck tires.
DLS Retreading is also offering 24-hour road service.
DLS Retreading currently has 12 employees and is operating at one-third of its capacity, said branch manager Eddie Burgamy. It expects to hire add staff every 30 days as it expands it client base.
Burgamy said the firm is working with trucking fleets as well as independent contractors.
When operations reach capacity DLS will be retreading about 300 tires a day, he said.
“Lancaster County is very happy to have DLS Retreading located in the Indian Land community,” said Lancaster County Council Chairman Larry McCullough. “Their relationship with Continental Tire the Americas and their plans for this facility are great news, and we look forward to working with the company to provide an outstanding workforce, training programs, and assistance for many years to come.”
