Leasing has begun for Main Street’s new student housing hi-rise and some floor plans already are sold out, developers say.

The Hub at Columbia, which is going in the former SCANA headquarters, is set to open in less than a year bringing nearly 850 new residents to Columbia’s redeveloping Main Street.

The development, aimed at students and young professionals, will feature a range of apartment sizes – from one to five bedrooms – and 60 different floor plans, developers said in a release Tuesday. All of the units will be fully furnished and will include a 42-inch flat-screen TV.

“We are delighted that Core Campus is developing this transformational live, work, and play project in the heart of Columbia,” said Matt Kennell, president and CEO of City Center Partnership, said in the release. “We can’t wait until it opens and the sidewalks are crowded with new shoppers and diners.”

An open house and tour at the 21-story project at 1426 Main St. is set for 1-4 p.m. Oct. 4. For more information, see, email or call (803) 369-8274.
