The new Kroger Marketplace store at Killian and Farrow Road in northeast Richland County is within a month of opening its doors, store officials said Wednesday.
The 124,000-square-foot marketplace store – a one-of-a-kind concept in the Palmetto State – is on schedule for a grand opening on July 20 in the Killian’s Crossing shopping complex, according to Kroger officials.
The store will feature upscale service departments, a drive-thru pharmacy, fuel center, Starbucks, apparel department and more. It will offer products and amenities that cater to customers’ shopping needs at prices Kroger customers appreciate, according to Glynn Jenkins, a company spokesman.
Construction began on the Kroger in summer 2015, and the project is estimated to bring between 250 and 300 new jobs to the community, Kroger said. Georgia has four of the marketplace stores, but the Killian Road Kroger will be the first one in South Carolina, Jenkins said.
Killian’s Crossing, which extends from Interstate 77 at Killian’s Road east to the Farrow Road intersection, is a 1.3 million square foot shopping and dining complex still under construction. It also will feature 550,000 square feet of office space and more than 2,000 housing units.
