Tilted Kilt will open a restaurant and pub at 380 Columbiana Drive in the Harbison area of Columbia in the next couple of months.
Managers are in the process of hiring 140 employees to staff the restaurant, opening in the former Sticky Fingers building, said general manager Steve Bobinski.
Bobinski described the establishment as an upscale sports bar with 44 beers on tap. It also serves a full menu with a range of dishes -- from steaks and shepherd's pie to wings and Irish stew.
Tilted Kilt also has a unique dress code for its wait staff.
Men and women all wear standard kilts, with a tartan design that is registered in Scotland, Bobinski said. The waitresses also wear low-cut, midriff-baring shirts and knee socks.
The restaurant, which was featured last season on CBS's popular ``Undercover Boss'' show, hosts events such as ``St. Practice Day'' on the 17th of every month, where the staff serves Scottish dishes and practices for St. Patrick's Day in March, Bobinski said.
The 6,000-square-foot Harbison area restaurant will seat nearly 200 people. It will be the second Tilted Kilt in South Carolina -- behind Myrtle Beach -- and the 96th companywide.
Columbia "is a great market," said Bobinski, who has worked in the restaurant industry in the Charlotte area for 25 years, including 12 at Hooter's.
The restaurant will open between mid-December and mid-January, he said
