Wilmington, N.C.-based restaurant Clean Eatz will open a location Aug. 1 at 5225 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington in the former Mr. Hibachi space next to Bruegger's Bagels.
Competitive bodybuilders Don and Evonne Varady founded Clean Eatz in Wilmington in 2013 with the goal of providing people a healthy place to eat. The eatery is designed to follow "clean eating" standards of low calories, lower fat, no sugar and no added sodium. Its quick-serve cafe offers meals catering to dietary needs related to weight-lifting, fitness, gluten allergies and vegetarian needs and offers customers changing weekly meal plans.
Clean Eatz currently operates two locations in North Carolina (both in Wilmington) and two in South Carolina--in Myrtle Beach and Charleston. In addition to the Lexington location, additional South Carolina locations are scheduled to open in Myrtle Beach and Charleston, as well as Greenville. Another 10 locations are also slated for North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and West Virginia.
