After months of renovations to the former Palmetto Candy and Tobacco building at 1225 Lincoln St., next week former South Carolina kindergarten teacher Haley LaMarche will open the doors to Palmetto Twist monogramming boutique in the Vista.
A small franchise that started in the Upstate, Palmetto Twist in the Vista will be the franchise's fifth location.
"We were fortunate to find a great location with a ton of history in the Vista," LaMarche said. "It was very important to me that our location had character, a historic look, and a feeling that it was a part of the neighborhood. We found the Palmetto Candy and Tobacco building on Lincoln Street that has been part of the shopping experience in Columbia for decades. After two months of renovations and weeks of preparing, we will be ready to open our doors ... re-inventing this building for another decade or more."
LaMarche will host a ribbon cutting at the shop at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 with the grand opening following on Saturday, July 9.
In addition being a monogram boutique that will offer accessories and clothing for men, women and children, Palmetto Twist will offer products supporting Greek organizations at the local colleges and universities.
"My father, brother, and sister are all business owners and owning a store has been on my to do list since I was 15," LaMarche said. "I'm very excited about promoting a woman-owed small business in a thriving location."
