The healthcare.gov web site is supposed to be working better now, and the deadline is Dec. 23 for signing up for Health Insurance Marketplace coverage to start Jan. 1.
That means the Navigators tasked with helping others through the process will be busy in the coming weeks.
The Benefit Bank of South Carolina will host 10 enrollment forums from Dec. 3-14 throughout the state, starting with one Tuesday night in Winnsboro.
The Cooperative Ministry’s Navigators in Columbia not only will be at work on weekdays as usual but will work the next two weekends at 3821 West Beltline Blvd.
The Navigators are trained to help people register on the web site, determine eligibility for tax credits and shop for health insurance online. They are not supposed to make recommendations on which policies to buy, though they can explain terminology such as deductibles, tax credits and out-of-pocket expenses.
The Benefit Bank forums are Tuesday, 6-8 p.m., Fairfield High School, 836 U.S. 321 Bypass, Winnsboro; Wednesday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Union AME Church, 390 Old River Road, Elloree; Wednesday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Spartanburg Community College Cherokee Campus, 523 Chesnee Hwy, Gaffney; Thursday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., United Way of Anderson County, 604 North Murray Ave., Anderson; Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., South Sumter Resource Center, 337 Manning Ave., Sumter; Sunday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Trident United Way, 6296 Rivers Ave., North Charleston; Dec. 10, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Walhalla Main Library, 501 West South Broad St., Walhalla; Dec. 12, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Laurens County Library, 1017 West Main St., Laurens; Dec. 12, noon-6 p.m., North Myrtle Beach Library, 910 1st Avenue South, North Myrtle Beach; Dec. 14, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Lake City Library, 221 East Main St., Lake City.
