Columbia Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine is joining leaders from 10 U.S. cities going to Scandinavia to learn more about livable cities.
The Oct. 1-4 meeting in Copenhagen includes tours of the Danish capital's parks and public spaces that might lead to better bicycle and pedestrian paths among other improvements back home.
Two dozen cities asked to send representatives on the trip, and Columbia is among the few selected, said JoAnn Turnquist of Central Carolina Community Foundation. The trip is paid by the Knight Foundation and 8to80cities, Turnquist said. No Columbia money is being used for the councilwoman to travel to Copenhagen, Devine said.
