Jeff Taillon, who lives in the Forest Acres area, was watching TV and drinking coffee around 8 a.m. Saturday morning while wind and rain from Hurricane Matthew pounded the Midlands.
Taillon heard a “Pop. Pop. Pop.” of the roots of a pine tree in the yard giving away. Then, Taillon heard a gush of wind that sounded like a car driving by really fast was created by the tree falling. Then the tree slammed into the back of the house and fell into one of the bedrooms.
“It was definitely a scary situation,” Taillon said.
