The City of Columbia has issued a sanitary sewer system overflow notification for the customers near the 5000 block of Brickyard Road.
The notification was issued after the City of Columbia Wastewater Division identified the sanitary sewer overflow entering Crane Creek just before 1 a.m.
Extended wet weather conditions led to the overflow in the gravity sewer system.
The overflow should not affect your drinking water service or the drinking water system in the area. Sanitary sewer overflows occur when more water enters a pipe than it can carry or when there is a clog preventing a pipe from draining correctly.
Never miss a local story.
Any questions regarding the notification should be directed to the city’s wastewater center at (803) 545-3300.
