William Patton, the actor best known for his roles in “Armageddon” and “Remember the Titans,” was arrested for DUI on Isle of Palms Tuesday.
An incident report filed with the Isle of Palms Police Department said officers observed Patton, who was born in Charleston, pulling out of the Island Center parking lot onto Palm Boulevard and crossed the median separating the left and right lanes.
The report said after the officer pulled Patton over he had glassy, bloodshot eyes and his speech was slurred. When the officer asked Patton how much he had to drink, he said “Not too much, a couple of bottles ... er ... couple of glasses of wine.”
The report said the officer asked Patton for his license and registration, but Patton said told the officer he couldn’t figure out what his registration card was even after he “picked up the registration card several times, looked at it and put it back down.”
After officers asked Patton to exit the vehicle, he used his truck for balance and had a difficult time walking, the report said. With Patton’s admission to drinking and the officer’s own observations, Patton was charged with DUI and placed under arrest before being transported to the Charleston County Detention Center.
According to court records, Patton was released on a $997 personal recognizance bond and will appear in court on March 25.
Patton currently starts in the TNT sci-fi series “Falling Skies” and has made other appearances
