Just in time for a gorgeous day, the ramp linking the Broad River Road bridge to the Riverfront Park trail has re-opened.
The S.C. Department of Transportation announced the opening early Wednesday. Construction began on the bridge nearly five years ago, and disconnecting the pedestrian ramp was among the first moves by workers.
With the reconnection of the ramp, pedestrians and bike riders can drop down from the bridge near the north end of the Riverfront Park trail. The connection allows bike commuters from the St. Andrews area to downtown to get off the roads for several miles.
