Boil water advisory lifted for Chapin residents

Residents in one part of Lexington County are now free to use water for cooking and cleaning following a water main break.

The City of Columbia Water Works lifted the boil water advisory at 3:30 Tuesday.

The advisory impacted water customers along several roads in Chapin on Monday (in the 100 block of Amicks Ferry Road, Zion Church Road, Broomstraw Road, Huffield Road, Turkey Point subdivision and Virginia Street) to boil water "vigorously" for one full minute.

The cause was a break in a six-inch water main in the 100 block of Amicks Ferry Road.
