A Columbia man who was walking in the road in northeast Richland County when he was struck and killed Friday has been identified, officials say.
William K. Allen, 56, was walking in the road and wearing dark clothing when he was struck by a vehicle, said Richland County Coroner Gary Watts in a statement released Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened at 8:30 p.m. on Clemson Road near Sparkleberry Lane in Richland County.
Allen was taken to Palmetto Health Richland where he later died from a head injury caused by the collision, Watts said. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
