I-26 construction updates for Lexington, Calhoun counties

Workers will continue shoulder paving work, however, no lanes will be closed from Nov. 24 to 6 a.m. Dec. 3 to help those traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.

According to the S.C. Department of Transportation, workers will repaint I-26 from Dixiana Road to Old Sandy Run Road in order to shift travel lanes to the right by four feet starting Dec. 4. The work will begin on I-26 westbound at Old Sandy Run and proceed west to the Dixiana Road Bridge.

The lane shift will be installed at night, and at least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times.

This construction will last through Dec. 9. However, the S.C. Department of Transporation said there will be no lane closures from 10 a.m. Nov. 24 to 6 a.m. Dec. 3.

Once the lane shift is completed, temporary concrete barriers will line the lanes of I-26 eastbound and westbound. One travel lane will remain open at all times.

The S.C. Department of Transportation also said there will be no lane closures from midnight Dec. 17 to 6 a.m. Jan. 3.
