Late in 2013, we asked readers to tell us which local marching band was their favorite. We even put videos of their performances online to help you decide.
Well, more than 28,000 votes came in within two weeks — and many of them said the same thing: Swansea High School.
On Tuesday, The State recognizes Swansea High School's marching band with a commemorative page. We have attached it here.
Rounding out the rest of the top five: Dutch Fork, Chapin, Irmo and River Bluff. Other participating bands included A.C. Flora, Batesburg-Leesville, Dreher and Gilbert.
We salute the talent of these high school marching bands, as well as others around the Midlands, and congratulate all for a successful competition season.
