US 76 now open after Monday's train derailment in Newberry

According to the Newberry County Sheriff's Office, three train cars derailed at the intersection of Colony Church Road and Highway 76 just after 9:30 a.m. Monday morning.

No injuries were reported.

The train cars were carrying paper. According to the Sheriff's Office there is no threat to the surrounding community.

US 76 reopened Tuesday around 1 p.m. after delays in righting the rail cars and cleaning up from the derailment closed one eastbound lane for safety reasons, according to the Newberry County Sheriff's Office.
