The S.C. Baptist Convention’s Disaster Relief office is awaiting word on whether its teams will be needed in the tornado-ravaged states of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri.

On its website, officials ask for prayers for the people affected by Monday night’s tornadoes and for those still in the path of the severe storms.

S.C. Baptists train hundreds of volunteers to provide help in times of natural disasters, including provision of emergency meals, cutting down trees and offering chaplain services.
