On Saturday the City of Columbia Water Works lifted the boil water advisory issued for an area near Harbison on Friday.
Customers of Settlers Way, Olde Stream Court, Rapids Ford Court, Pioneers Point Court, Cape Lookout Court, which are all in the Harbison Area. Small portions of Columbiana Drive and Columbia Avenue, in Richland County, are also affected.
Residents should vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking. Any residents near the affected area who have lost water or water pressure should also boil their water.
In addition, ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.
The City of Columbia experienced an 8-inch water main break, which could possibly result in the bacterial contamination of the water.
The City of Columbia Water Works is working to correct the problem.
