SCHOOLS

TRENHOLM ROAD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PRESCHOOL has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

BROOKLAND-CAYCE HIGH SCHOOL senior Alena Bech has been named the South Carolina Work-Based Learning Student of the Year by the S.C. Department of Education, Office of Career and Technology Education. She is the daughter of Sean and Jackie Bech.

C.A. JOHNSON HIGH SCHOOL teacher Chanda Jefferson has been named the 2014 Outstanding Biology Teacher in South Carolina by the National Association of Biology Teachers.

YOUTH

ROBERT W. GRADEL has been selected to attend the South Carolina Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar at Erskine College this summer. He is a sophomore at Chapin High School and is the son of Tom and Andrea Gradel.

MILITARY

AIR FORCE RESERVE AIRMAN ARMIR A. GOODWIN has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Arthur and Kathy Goodwin of Columbia.

ARMY SPC. CHRISTOPHER GRABBATIN has graduated from basic infantry training and completed airborne training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Charles and Debra Grabbatin of Columbia.

ARMY PVT. KENNETH A. TISDALE has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Jean and Kenneth Tisdale of Columbia.
