A 21-year-old Columbia man was arrested after two employees of a hotel near Irmo were assaulted on Thursday.
Xavier Kadeem Graham of Berryhill Road is charged with one count of first-degree burglary, one count of second-degree burglary and two counts of assault with the intent to commit first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was jailed Thursday evening to await a bond hearing.
According to an arrest warrant, the suspect unlawfully entered a guest room at a Red Roof Inn at 10 Berryhill Road Thursday morning and physically assaulted a 24-year-old woman who works at the motel. The suspect injured the woman’s back by throwing her onto the bed in the room with the intent of committing a sexual assault, according to a press release from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
Warrants also say a suspect unlawfully entered a second guest room at the motel and assaulted a 45-year-old woman who works at the motel. The suspect grabbed the woman’s private parts and tried to pull off her shirt, according to the release.
A motel employee reported the crimes and said the suspect ran toward a nearby apartment complex. Graham lives in that complex.
Officials ask that anyone with information about criminal activity involving Graham to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
