A wheelchair-bound Powdersville area homeowner shot and killed an intruder who tried to burglarize his home and was shot in the process, according to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.
Orlandous Brown, 33, of 103 Woodhaven Court, Easley, shot a 26-year-old Atlanta man “multiple times,” and survived being shot himself, Chief Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman said.
Boseman hadn’t been able to locate the family of the man who was killed and wouldn’t release his name late Thursday.
Latisha Vernon, a friend of Brown, called the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office at 12:35 a.m. Thursday to report a burglary in progress, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.
When deputies arrived, Vernon and her daughter were in the driveway calling to them, the report says. The deputies moved them to a safe location and entered the house, authorities said.
They found two men in the living room with gunshot wounds, according to the report.
Boseman said the 26-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Brown was taken to the hospital where he went through surgery for non-life-threatening wounds, Boseman said.
An autopsy was performed Thursday on the man who was killed, but Boseman said he couldn’t release any details until he notifies his family.
