Margaret Fisher, Republican nominee for Lexington County coroner, largely financed her campaign personally, records released Thursday show.
Fisher, a Richland County deputy, contributed nearly two-thirds of the $32,499 raised, according to reports to the State Ethics Commission.
She donated $21,054 and loaned her race $5,000, reports say. She also received $100 from Gov. Nikki Haley and her husband, Michael, who are from Lexington.
Her fund-raising was more than twice the $15,662 that challenger Brian Setree reported.
Fisher defeated Setree in a runoff race Tuesday, setting the stage for her to be elected coroner Nov. 4, since no Democrat is running.
