The city of West Columbia on Friday lifted a boil water advisory that affected a section of West Columbia near the Congaree River.
---------------- EARLIER REPORTING -------------------
A broken water line has prompted the city of West Columbia to issue a boil water advisory for a large swath of town near the Congaree River.
The affected area is bordered by Jarvis Klapman Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, 9th Street, Augusta Street and Alexander Road. The nearby Congaree Park and Village at Riverwalk subdivisions are not affected, West Columbia city officials said in a news release.
Residents and businesses in the affected area are urged to vigorously boil for at least 60 seconds any water used for drinking or cooking before use. Any ice made during the advisory period by automatic ice makers should be thrown away.
