A huge fireball, thought to be a meteor, was seen by observers in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Delaware and Pennsylvania Thursday night, according to multiple media outlets.

The American Meteor Society has recorded 74 reports of the event on its "fireball page."

Reports read like this one from a Virginia man: "It was the brightest I've ever seen. I even heard a boom."

Dan Prejar of Raleigh, N.C. caught the meteor on video using a dash cam in North Carolina.
