Spartanburg police have charged a woman with murder after she allegedly shot and killed her roommate following an argument that occurred Saturday evening.
Capt. Art Littlejohn, a Spartanburg Police Department spokesman, said Brittany Pearson, 25, of Spartanburg, was charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Littlejohn said officers responded to a 911 call made by Pearson after she shot Myah Marguerita Cole, 26, of Spartanburg, in a car parked in the parking lot of Park Place Apartments on South Port Road just after 9 p.m.
According to an incident report filed with the department, Pearson and Cole were living together at the apartment complex.

Responding officers found Pearson standing outside of the parked car “on the phone sounding hysterical” with the handgun on the ground, the report said.
When officers asked Pearson what happened, she said she and Cole had gotten “into an argument and I pulled out my gun and shot her,” the report said.
Spartanburg emergency medical services arrived on the scene and attempted to treat Cole, but she was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
The report said Pearson was “distraught” after learning from officers that Cole was dead.
Pearson was transported to the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
