The body of a missing Columbia native has been found in the French Broad River in North Carolina.
The (Hendersonville) Times-News reported that Andrew Sprinkle’s body was found Friday afternoon under a tree in the river. Crews had been searching for Sprinkle since his truck was found wrecked, abandoned and partially submerged in the frigid water Nov. 15 along U.S. 276.
The 31-year-old Alpharetta, Ga., resident, a Spring Valley High School and Clemson University grad, had been staying at his family’s second home in Connestee Falls.
A passerby noticed the wreckage and called 911.
Never miss a local story.
Transylvania County Sheriff’s Capt. Kevin Creasman said Sprinkle was found about half a mile downstream of the wreck after an extensive search.
Sprinkle’s mother reported her son missing Nov. 17 after he didn’t show up for work in Atlanta.
A date for funeral services will be announced later.
