The average daily temperature in November 2014 for Columbia was 50.6 degrees. That ties for the 12th coldest November in 128 years of records, according to the Southeast Regional Climate Center. The coldest local November was 1976, with an average daily temperature of 47.7.
The daily temperature was at least 10 degrees lower than normal nine times during the month, while it was at least 10 degrees higher than normal only twice. There were nine days with lows below freezing, including a record low of 20 on Nov. 19, the earliest ever the temperature had hit that low in Columbia.
Elsewhere in the region, Augusta registered its second coldest November and Greenville-Spartanburg its 15th coldest.
The month also was the 17th wettest in Columbia history, with 4.38 inches of rain.
