A fire that broke out at a Sumter home Sunday afternoon has claimed the life of one and remains under investigation, officials say.
Elease Wilson, 95, died at her home at 4 West Williams Street as a result of the fire, Sumter County Coroner Harvin Bullock said Sunday night.
Firefighters with the Sumter County Fire Department responded to the blaze at the home located in a residential area a few blocks off Manning Street around 2:30 p.m., Capt. Joey Duggan said.
The fire took about 20 minutes to put out and caused an estimated $50,000 in damages.

Fire investigators were on the scene as late as Sunday afternoon and are working to determine the cause, Duggan said.
