A single-engine plane made an emergency landing on a grassy strip of land in the Gilbert area of Lexington County about 4 p.m. today.
The pilot and his passnger walked away from the Cessna propeller-driven plane with minor injuries, said Lexington County spokesman Maj. John Allard.
Allard said Lexington deputies were contacting the Federal Aviation Administration, which investigates aircraft accidents.
The incident, in which the plane sustained minor damage, happened near Hallman Wagon Road in the vicinity of mile marker 43 on I-20, Allard said.
The two men on board were injured when their plane, after landing, tipped forward into the ground, Allard said.
Authorities did not know why the plane landed in the field, where the plane was coming from or going to, or the identities of the pair on board the plane.
